“Manifattura Lane Ilaria” was founded a few months after the great flood of Florence, following the general desire to restore and relaunch the city, thanks to the entrepreneurial attitude of Giampaolo Bruni. Our production was immediately directed towards patterned and fancy yarns, taking advantage of the talent and diligence of Prato’s textile district.

Taking advantage of the availability of an increased number of buildings in the factory, the company purchased new twisting machines, which guaranteed a high quality production directly controlled by expert internal workers.

To meet the increasing demands in production, the great modern combs’ spinning unit was founded, in pursuit of the maximum care of more noble yarns like Alpaca and Mohair. At first the unit was created as an external department and then gradually incorporated into the Calenzano factory.

In the mid 80’s Ilaria factory occupied more than 6000 sq.m of roofed buildings, integrating the spinning, twisting, raising, reeling and winding units.

Ilaria decided to control the production of special yarns directly in a new unit. Yarns such as: ribbons, cut yarns, trimming, air spun etc… Some special machines were even designed and built internally. Ilaria’s most flexible and innovative unit to this day.

At the beginning of the 90’s Ilaria made another important investment purchasing modern hollow spindle twisting machines, capable of responding to the changing production demands. Our aim has always been to take care of and directly manage the quality of the products.

Ilaria celebrated the new millennium by expanding the factory by up to 14.000 sq.m of roofed buildings. New, modern buildings for the spinning mill, the warehouse and the offices.

Ilaria became the unmatched worldwide leader in the exclusive field of “Superkid Mohair” presenting a color card with 200 colours ready in stock service for immediate delivery. Yarns of excellent quality aimed at fashion excellence in the world.

Ilaria is the first spinning mill in the world to obtain RMS certification, the global standard for precious Mohair fiber. RMS was created by the Textile Exchange to guarantee total ethical and sustainable respect of both animals and the environment , and complete product traceability.
